Scott Raymond Metcalf

December 24, 1962 — April 10, 2021

Scott Raymond Metcalf was born on December 24, 1962 in Seattle, WA. Scott was the youngest of 5 children born to mother Shirley. He spent his childhood living in many states and cities ranging from Seattle, WA to Boardman, OR to Swan Lake, MT. Scott was an avid outdoorsman. He loved all kinds of activities including hunting, fishing, camping, dirt-biking, snowmobiling, and gardening. As a kid he was often found riding his dirt bike around Coeur d Alene and getting into mischief. He worked many years in various restaurant settings, where he would eventually meet his wife Dorothy. He married Dorothy Sherrill on April 28, 1990 and took on the role of a father to her two children at that time. Together they had the light of Scott's life, Scott's son, Tyler. Though Scott and Dorothy later divorced, he stayed in contact with her children that he helped raise, and loved as his own. It was through his daughter that he eventually became a grandfather, another role he loved. He was an animal lover as well, and would often be found nursing animals back to health that he would find wounded. Scott had many challenges throughout his life, but he would never let them stop him from doing the things he loved. Around 1999 Scott was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which brought on many challenges for him. He never let it stop him, and he became an active member of the MS support group in Coeur d Arlene. In December of 2020 Scott was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. He fought the battle hard with every intention of winning it, right up until the very end. Scott was called home to be with the lord on April 10, 2021 in Spokane WA with both of his children by his side. He is survived by his mother Shirley Metcalf, his brothers John Metcalf, Chuck (Aurora) Metcalf, sisters Rhonda Wilkins, Sherry (Randy) Kline, and children Tyler Metcalf, Christine Bateman, 3 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that he adored. He is preceded in death by his father, Dick Metcalf, brother in law Jerry Wilkins, and his niece Dawn Wilkins. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Services will be held at the VFW in Airway Heights on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 2 PM. There will be a larger celebration of life at a later date.
