HART, Thomas D. (age 88) – Born in Grafton, North Dakota on June 6, 1933, Tom passed away peacefully in his favorite chair surrounded by his loving wife, Claudia, and several family members. In 1951, he graduated from Grafton High School and continued his education while in the military. Tom was a proud Veteran of the USAF having served 20 years with service in Vietnam. A 56 year resident of Spokane, Tom was devoted to his career with the USPS, where he also spent 23 years of service. Always a giver, Tom shared his time and talents making Spokane a better place to live. To name just a few groups he was steadfast to: he was a Past Master of North Hill Masonic Lodge #210 and an extremely active member of El Katif Shriners, where he held leadership roles in North Spokane Shrine Club and the Legion of Honor. Additionally, Tom arranged coordination of a portion of the Spokane Area Veterans Honor Guard providing military honors for fallen veterans. He was a strong member of the Postal Union and enjoyed woodworking, golf and bowling. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Claudia, whom he swept off her feet and married in 1955. He is also survived by their children, Ron and Jan Hart, Larry and Sherryl Hart, Marla and Sam Cannata, and Kari and Burt Kostelecky all of Spokane; his sister, Eedie Stanly of Winnipeg, Canada; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was truly a man of character and service. A public funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Flowers, Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N Division, Spokane, WA. A private family interment with military and masonic honors will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery on a future date.
