Rose Mary Gibson

With heavy hearts we celebrate the life of Rose Mary Alice Gibson. Sadly, on February 1, 2026, she passed away peacefully at home, under the loving care of her grandson Jason Knudtson, his wife Jessica, and their son Steven. Until the end, Rose maintained her kindness, grace, compassion and love for family and friends. She expressed over and over her gratitude for her long life of 90 years.

Rose was born in Ryderwood, Washington to Frank and Wilma Boerste. Later she married Robert N. "Gib" Gibson and started a family. After moving several times, Gib and Rose settled in the Spokane/Cheney area where they both called home until their passing.

Rose was known for her kindness and hospitality. She loved celebrations, hosting holidays, especially playing Mrs. Claus, and cooking for all. From Gib's friends to her daughters, she never knew how many would ultimately show up for dinner. Her family even believed that family and friends could smell when she was baking, or cooking roast or chili. Her ultimate job in life was keeping Gib and her 4 daughters in line. (Not an easy job).

Rose will be reunited with the love of her life, husband of 51 years Robert N Gibson; her sons Billy & Robert; and daughters Mary Lou and Roberta.

She is survived by her daughters Debbie Standridge and husband Dennis of Spokane, WA, and Tina Eickholt of Spokane Valley, WA; sister JoAnn Bozarth of Port Angeles, WA; grandchildren Bert Craig, Jason Knudtson, Kyle Knudtson, Mathew Mullett, Brittany Green, and Steven Eickolt; as well as several great-great grandchildren and many friends.

Rose was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to many.

Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wed. Feb. 18, 2026, at Riplinger Funeral Home in Spokane, Washington. A small reception will follow, in addition to a wake at her home in Cheney after that.
