Robert Hunt

Robert “Bob” C. Hunt June 23, 1947 – June 29, 2024

 Robert C. Hunt passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on June 29, 2024, after battling lung and brain cancer. Bob grew up in Mead, WA and graduated from Mead Senior High in 1965. In 1966, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Seabee until November 1969. After two tours in Vietnam, Bob spent the last months of his Naval service in Scotland. He received excellent evaluations from his superiors including a special commendation from the Secretary of the Navy.

After the military, Bob attended Spokane Community College where he studied accounting. He went to work for Pizza Hut and became the Northwest regional manager, traveling between Portland, Spokane and Seattle. Following his time in the Northwest, he became the regional manager in Kansas City, Kansas. When Bob tired of the corporate life, he returned to Mead and worked for Brown’s Building Materials for many years. He truly enjoyed his time at Brown’s and served in many roles.

Bob is survived by two daughters -- Amy Hunt and Angie (Ryan) McKinley. He also has four grandchildren -- Kaleo Monk, Kiernan McKinley (Samantha), Darby Shahan (Daniel), and Keely McKinley. Bob is blessed with three great grandchildren (Huntleigh Rose Shahan, Kenneth James Shahan, Finn Rae McKinley), three sisters -- Nancy Walker (Larry), Pat Waller, Colleen (Stan) Woods and one brother -- Richard (Joanie) Hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents -- Clayton and Hazel Hunt.

A small graveside service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 3 at Peone Cemetery. One of Bob’s favorite charities is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital if friends and family would like to make a donation in his memory.
