Richard was born on December 22, 1948, in Leavenworth, Washington, to Samuel King and Maryls Cummins. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Gary King.
Richard spent many years working as an iron worker, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work he enjoyed spending time outdoors and could often be found camping, fishing, or hunting. He appreciated the simple pleasures of nature and cherished the time spent with family and friends.
Richard is survived by his children: Leslie Hathorne of Grand Junction, Colorado; Krista Moretti of Grand Junction, Colorado; Richard King and his spouse Keri King, of Sedro Woolley, Washington; Roy King and his spouse, Anita King, of Oroville Washington.
He was a proud grandfather to Britney Hathorne and Brody Hathorne; Jared Montoya, Sierra Montoya, and Andrew Moretti; and Ricky King and Hunter King. He was also a proud great-grand father to Ryan Montover, son of Sierra Montoya.
Richard's family was an important part of his life. In later years he was fortunate to have the companionship and support of Peggy Reese. Peggy was there for Richard in many ways, helping him with doctor's appointments, preparing meals, keeping him company, and assisting around the house. The two also enjoyed spending time together, including visits to the casino. Her friendship, care, and kindness brought comfort and joy to Richard's life.
He will be remembered for his hard work, love of the outdoors, and the memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
Richard will be missed by his family, friends, and all whose lived he touched.
