Paulette Kay Porter

December 2, 1944 — November 3, 2024

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom, Paulette K. Porter, on November 3, 2024 at age 79. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. To all those who were privileged to know her, she brought great comfort and joy.

Paulette was born in Spokane, Washington, on December 2, 1943, to Paul and Dorothy Robar. Shortly after graduating from Shadle Park High School in 1963, she married (our dad) Marshall V. Smith. With their lives firmly planted in Spokane, Paulette became a stay-at-home mom to their 3-children.

As her children grew and started school, Paulette stepped into a different role, choosing a career outside the home as a substitute employee in the Mead School District in the food service department, eventually becoming the manager of the kitchen at Northwood Junior High. And after years of faithful service, she retired in 1998. Once again, in yet another ‘life change moment’, Paulette would find love and companionship upon meeting and marrying Brian Porter.

Paulette remained active in her church, giving of herself in service to others; volunteering for many years at Bloomsday, passing out packets to the thousands of runners and walkers who participated in the race. But her greatest passion and love would always be her family. And running a close second to her family were her dogs. After retirement Paulette found great joy in baking, crocheting and gardening.

Paulette is survived by her 3-children, Kevin Smith (Cindy), Kim Ratcliff, & Korey Smith (To’mey). Her grandchildren, Nicholes, Jacob, Tyler (Cheyenne), Tanner (Alexandria), Amanda (Scott), Alex and Jena. Her great-grandchildren Skyler, Lucas, Mason, Lennon, Jaxson, Tallulah and Oliver. Her sister Karen Campbell (Dan) of Seaside, Or. And a niece and nephew along with many cousins and friends. Paulette was preceded in death by her parents Paul & Dorothy Robar, her brother Ed Robar, her husbands Marshall Smith and Brian Porter.

With the kindness of her heart, Paulette has created a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience that will live on through her family and all those who loved and knew her well.

A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held on Saturday April 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Colbert Chapel, Colbert, Washington.
