Monty Stimmel

April 11, 1941 — May 7, 2025

Monty Clark Stimmel age 84 left us May 7, 2025 to fly his final journey.

Born and growing up in Homedale, Idaho he enjoyed and fully participated in small town life, family, friends and young boy adventures. There he became involved with 4H Club, school band & plays, learned the skills to obtain a HAM operator license.

He moved to Davenport, WA to complete the final year of high school, worked temporarily at a local service station and a few years engaged in farming in Harrington, WA. The next step was employment at Washington Water Power Co. later known as AVISTA.

Retirement came 35 years later and with his wife Sonnia lived full time in an RV for 12 years wandering around the Northwest, Western Canada and other western states. Monty enjoyed several hobbies as a HAM radio operator that connected him to people around the world, sailing Coeur d'Alene and Pend Oreille lakes, playing guitar, listening to the music of Gordon Lightfoot, collecting model trains, building and flying radio control/control line planes, spending time nat his airplane hangers, going to airshows, studying the stars with his telescope, watching NASCAR & National Finals Rodeo. His passion for full scale airplane flying surpassed everything beginning in the 1906's. His most treasured airplane was the RV-4 built by Charlie Wilson at Felts Field airport in Spokane.

After 12 years of RV life, Deer Park, WA became home and to his absolute joy, the airport was only one mile from the condo.

Monty, your family, nieces/nephews, wife and friends enjoyed your big personality and are sad now but we all have distinct memories to cherish. You and I had 50 plus years of marriage and adventure and that will provide many more years of memories and smiles. Now you are on another journey and maybe you can pick up your favorite dog, Gabby as you go forever flying. Love, Sunny.

Interment will take place at Wilder Cemetery, Wilder, Idaho at a later date. At Monty's request there will not be a memorial service/reception.

In Monty's memory, please consider a donation to CorgiAid, Inc, Western Sports Foundation, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
