Micky Christenson

November 19, 1932 — March 4, 2024

Micky Gladys (Coy) Christenson, age 91 passed away on March 4, 2024 at a local hospital with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.
Micky was born in Bend, Oregon on November 19, 1932, the middle of three children born to Oscar Coy and Dorothy (Ramsay) Coy. Micky enjoyed a close lifelong relationship with her older sister, Betty, and they were later joined by their younger brother Dan. The Coy family lived in multiple locations in Oregon, briefly moving to New Mexico before returning to Damascus, Oregon where Micky graduated from Gresham Union High School in 1950.

Micky attended Prairie Bible Institute near Calgary, Alberta, Canada following high school. She then moved to Los Angeles, California to begin her career as an office administrator for the Jim Vaus Evangelistic Association. She met her co-worker and future husband, Dwain (Chris) Christenson here.
They were married September 7, 1956. While living in Los Angeles their first son, Rodney was born in 1957. Micky and Chris moved their family to Spokane, WA where they were both actively involved in Christian ministries. Micky studied piano, organ, and accordion, playing piano and organ for multiple churches.

Micky continued her career as an office administrator during the early 1960's working for a law office, Burlington Northern railroad, and a health clinic. In early 1963, she gave birth to twin boys, Scott and Mark. She juggled running a household with three young boys and working. The family of five made a couple of moves which included Clear Lake, Washington; Gresham, Oregon; and eventually to the Medical Lake area where they put down roots in what was destined to become the family's hometown. Micky continued her work in administrative roles, ultimately starting her career in the office at Medical Lake High School in 1975 where she enjoyed her interactions with the faculty, students, and administration for the next 15 years. Micky's sons finished their schooling in the Medical Lake schools where they were all active in sports, extracurricular activities and Boy Scouts. Micky was a proud Mom and was supportive in all of their activities. Each of her sons attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Micky retired from the school district in 1990. She and Chris transitioned to onsite property management as a husband-and-wife team at apartment complexes in Spokane, Washington and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho for the next 10 - 12 years.

Following Dwain's death, in December 2005, Micky moved to the Sans Succi community, where she lived and enjoyed 11 active years with weekly activities amongst a small circle of friends. Micky enjoyed spending time with family, particularly when it included a shared meal and a good game of cards. She also had a penchant for shopping and decorating her homes, taking pride in her collection of blue and white china.

Micky is survived by her sons Rod (Carol), Scott (Ceci), and Mark; grandchildren Wesley Christenson (Atsuko), David Christenson (Lindsey), Michelle Gonesto-Rowe (Brandon), and Frank Moore, II (Matty); and six great grandchildren.
