Mary Ann Kautzman

Mary Ann Kautzman (Mary) passed away on Tuesday September 21, 2021, at Royal Park Health and Rehabilitation Center in Spokane WA. Mary was born in Flasher, North Dakota on September 13th, 1929, to Rose and Frank Kuntz. She was the one of eleven children. Mary married Dan Kautzman on October 8th, 1947. They had four children, Mary Lou, Linda, Victor and Danny. They lived in Mandan ND where she worked for Bill’s Super Value until moving to Minot ND for 3 years then relocating to Spokane WA in 1970 where she worked in various jobs until retiring in 1984. Mary loved being around her kids and grandchildren, whether it was dinner at her house on Sundays making her famous cream chicken meal which everyone loved, being in Cheney for holidays and family gatherings, or most recently going to Swan Lake MT where the family reunion is held every summer. She welcomed every one of her kids many friends into her home and always treated them as family. In her most recent years’ she lived at Lilac Plaza in Spokane where she met many friends. They played cards (pinochle of course) many nights along with Hand and Foot. She was very competitive at those games along with the board game Aggravation and hated to lose. Her grandchildren swear she cheated somehow when she played them, but she was just better than them. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Dan and her oldest child Mary Lou. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Steve) Riney Apache Junction AZ, sons Vic (Diane) Kautzman Swan Lake MT, Danny (Diana) Kautzman Cheney WA along with a brother Leonard (Susie) Kuntz Albuquerque NM and a sister Maggie Chamberlain Mandan ND and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Riplinger Funeral Home is handling arrangements and caring for Mary’s family. A mass is planned for Saturday Oct. 16th 10am at St. Thomas More Parish with interment following the service at Holy Cross Cemetery. Reception to follow.
