Mark Steven Knight

January 11, 1950 — May 18, 2018

Ofc. Mark Knight, PFC-Retired. 01/11/50-05/18/18.  Passed away peacefully with his wife, Cindi, by his side after a 3.5 year battle from a virus in his brain. He was born in Kellogg, ID.  His family moved to Mead, WA after his father’s death in 1959. Mark graduated from Mead High School Class of ’68.  He worked at Mead Market with his Mom and cleared Idaho trees with Uncle Kelly and cousins. He received a Criminal Justice AA degree at SCC, worked for WA State Patrol less than two years, transferred to Spokane Police Department Jan 1974 to April 2000.  He served on Patrol, SWAT, Dignitary Protection and MotorTraffic Units. He was a Master Police Motorcycle instructor and held the course speed record. He also taught Traffic Law at SCC. After he retired, he worked for Columbia Paint, State Liquor Control Board and at “The Grand Lady” Davenport Hotel.  He proudly volunteered for Safe Kids on the Spokane Regional and Kootenai Medical Health Teams teaching families to properly install child safety restraints.   He loved all animals (excluding snakes) and enjoyed stained glass art, boating, water skiing, RV camping, target shooting, gardening, watching Seattle Mariners and Seahawks, and attending the Gonzaga Lady Zags basketball games. He helped out the Spirit of Spokane Sweet Adeline Chorus Shows making props, transporting risers and so much more. Survived by: Wife Cindi Knight, Spokane; Sister Kathy (David) Salerno, Priest River; Brother Mike (Candy) Knight, Sun City, AZ; Son Chris Knight Omaha NB and Stepdaughter Heidi (Ken) Farr, Spokane. Grandchildren: Alan, Jackson and Courtnay Knight, Omaha and Jocelyn Farr, Spokane.  Preceded in death by parents Delbert and Lora Knight and his son Tom Knight. Thank you to staff at SHMC, NIACH, SLRI, West Lake in 2014 and at Pine Ridge, Rockwood, 9Mile Memory Care Units and Hospice of Spokane 2017-18. Memorial Service will be officiated by Mark Sterk on Friday 06/08/18 at 3:00pm @ Spokane Valley Church of Nazarene 15545 E 20th in Spokane Valley.
