Marilyn Mae McCartney

April 28, 1938 — April 2, 2023

Marilyn Mae McCartney (Walker)

Marilyn was born in Glasgow Montana on April 28, 1938 to Charlie & Rose Walker & was raised on the family farm with her sister Dorothy. She graduated from college with an Associate's Degree at Northern Montana College in Havre, MT where she met Dick “the love of her life” when he stopped to ask if she needed a ride. They married while in college in 1957 & had 3 children, Gary, Marla & Lisa. Marilyn maintained the home while Dick taught school and worked for the railroad all over Montana before relocating to Spokane in 1965. After working in business office roles, she and Dick established Popcorn Etc. in Franklin Park Mall & operated their business for many years before retirement.

Marilyn thoroughly valued family, friends and the outdoors. Many miles were traveled in their RV. Exploring Montana, Alaska and Arizona were among MANY favorites. Sharing time with their 4 grandchildren (Kurt, Halee, Alex & Adam) and their one great grandchild Camden were always highlights! Day trips, holidays and campfires were pure enjoyment to her.

Marilyn had Dementia for several years. In her last year, in her mind she was taking trips on the Train as she had many times earlier in her life. You could ask her ‘Where did you go, mom?’ Her answer was “I went back to Glasgow with Mom & Dad”.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Dick, her sister Dorothy and daughter Marla. She is survived by her son Gary, daughter Lisa & her husband Dan, grandchildren Kurtis, Halee, Alex and Adam & Great Grandson Camden.

She will be laid to rest at the Washington State Veterans Memorial Cemetery along side Dick (USAF Veteran)!

Any donations can be made to The Cottages of Spokane or Horizon Hospice, both took exceptional care of Marilyn.
