Marian D. Carson

Marian D. Carson passed away peacefully after a short illness on August 2, 2026 in Spokane, WA.

Marian was born on April 15, 1952 in Spokane, WA to Lloyd W (Bud) Cloe and Jessie Darlene Arnott Cloe. She was the middle sister of three siblings. She grew up in Spokane spending summers at Diamond Lake. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1970. She purchased property near Deer Park in 1990 where she could be away from city life and have her beloved horses.

She is survived by her sisters, Donna Rosen and Lynn Herrington and nieces and nephews, Brian Herrington, Amber Herrington, Jamie Jenks and Jodi Shumaker.

Marian loved animals. Her dogs through the years were her "babies". She started riding horses as a young girl and it became her passion. She was able to continue riding right up until her death. She enjoyed camping and "horse" camping and spent many days in the summer at Calispel Basin with friends and her horses and enjoyed camping at the Pac River. She liked to travel and went many places in the United States, usually involving horses. She also visited Australia and Iceland where she rode Icelandic horses. She became very close friends with the people she met on these trips.

She was an active member of the Back Country Horsman of Washington Northeast Chapter. She was a past board member and spent many hours trail clearing and building new trails. She was also 2025 Co-Member of the year for the Northeast Chapter Backcountry Horseman. She organized and lead the Vicki Gish memorial ride for 9 years. She also helped organize the Christmas party for Northeast Chapter Backcountry horseman.

Marian also volunteered with the Stevens County Cat clinic. There she worked in the recovery area.

Marian was loved and will be missed by family and many friends. How lucky we are to have had someone that makes saying goodbye so hard. Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday August 15, 2026 from 2pm-4pm at The Clayton Grange, 4478 Railroad Avenue, Clayton, WA.
