Maria Esmeralda Estrada-Loehne, a remarkable woman whose kindness and directness touched the lives of many, passed away on February 24, 2026, in Spokane, Washington. Born on January 2, 1966, in Hidalgo, Texas, Maria was a beacon of love and faith throughout her life.
With over 30 years of dedicated service, Maria made significant contributions to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, where she worked tirelessly as an NAC and later as an HUC. Her commitment to education was evident as she obtained both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Eastern Washington University. Following her academic achievements, she cherished the role of substitute teacher, finding joy in impacting the lives of students.
Maria held her faith close to her heart, often volunteering at her church and engaging in community activities that resonated with her deep-rooted beliefs. She played a vital role in organizing events and devoted her time to initiatives like the Mercadito, a Latin food drive that highlighted her passion for service. In addition, Maria shared her love for baking, which brought comfort and joy to various people and organizations that she encountered throughout her journey.
Her volunteer work extended to the Gifted Granny thrift store in Rosalia, Washington, where she continued to foster her spirit of giving. Although she did not serve in the military, Maria supported the community through her involvement with the VFW Group 3386 Auxiliary, offering her encouragement and support to veterans and their families.
Maria is survived by her beloved husband John, her brothers Ralph, Jesse, Fidel Jr, and Roy, and her sisters Blanca and Catalina. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, along with great nieces and great-great nieces and nephews, who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Preceding her in death are her parents and two older brothers, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
A visitation will be held on March 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Lincoln Heights Community Church, 3527 E 29th Ave, Spokane, WA 99223. Afterwards, Maria will be laid to rest at the Rosalia IOOF Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia, WA, at 2:30 PM.
Maria Esmeralda Estrada-Loehne's legacy of love, service, and unwavering kindness will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
