Likbar Amanu of Spokane, Washington passed away on July 14, 2023, in Goodland, Kansas. Likbar was born in the Marshall Islands to Manene Clanry and Janet Clanry on December 5, 1953. She attended the Calvary Bible Institute High School and graduated in 1973.
Likbar married Toeka Amanu from the Island of Gilbert, where they lived for several years. Eventually she moved back to Majuro, where she attended the College of the Marshall Islands to become a registered nurse.
Likbar was a retired nurse from the Majuro Hospital where she was known for her kindness and love she showed toward her patients. She would house and care for children that had no parents and children that were left at the hospital, until they were adopted. She was known to have a giving and caring spirit.
Likbar is survived by her children, Rosedy Leckenby, Betty Johnson, Rotan Amanu, Tarbwilin Amanu, Eria Amanu, and Christon Saimon. Several brothers and sisters and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Toeka Amanu, daughter, Darlene Manene, and son Christopher Amanu.
