LeAnn Marie Adams

1944-2025

LeAnn Marie Adams passed away November 1, 2025, at Hospice House of Spokane. To know LeAnn was to know kindness, happiness and grace. She was always pleasant to those around her. She leaves this physical world but will always be loved and remembered in the hearts and minds of those who knew her.

LeAnn was born on March 7,1944 to Wilfred and Orpha Dionne in Spokane Washington. LeAnn was raised in the Catholic church by her parents along with her siblings, Lorraine, Ronald, and Michelle. She attended St. Xavier, Marycliff and graduated from Roger’s High School. She attended mass regularly. She declined communion to protest the Catholic Church's position on women's health and rights.

LeAnn was happiest with family. She has three daughters, Jeanne, Kim and Pam. She had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

LeAnn married Larry Adams in 1999. What a wonderful marriage. LeAnn and Larry were fond of saying to newlyweds that they hoped they would be as happy as they were.

LeAnn worked at the Cresent department store as an elevator operator and John W. Graham’s. She then joined Old National Bank, first in the Escrow department and then in the Trust department. During this time, she attended college to obtain her first degree in accounting. When ONB sold out to US bank, she transferred to the audit department. US Bank moved the audit department to Seattle. LeAnn moved to Seattle for a couple of years, but when US Bank made plans to move audit to Portland and then to Minneapolis, she said no. After moving back to Spokane, she obtained her second degree in Interior Design, with honors. Interior Design was a nice compliment to her love of gardening.

LeAnn was a fierce gardener. Over the years she was a member of several clubs and organizations including TEAG, Friends of Manito, and Master Gardeners. She always claimed to know little, nor be good at gardening. She was wrong. Many people asked for help and utilized her talents in both design and gardening. Her knowledge of color and “flow” were legendary. LeAnn’s house, garden and yard reflect this ability. She was a participant, not a fence sitter and could be counted on for help. In the Spokane gardening community, she was one of the usual suspects.

For a time, LeAnn was a runner. Her friend and running partner, Becky, lived on 8th between Cannon and Oak. She could run up hills because of her Marycliff calves. She attended several Bloomsdays throughout her life, often with family and friends of all ages.

She suffered her second bout of leukemia after being cancer free for thirteen years, however, this was not a recurrence of the same exact type. LeAnn fought leukemia until it consumed her. The family would like to express thanks to all the medical staff who worked for her recovery. The first at Deaconess, the second at Sacred Heart and Holy Family hospitals. Spokane has excellent medical care, and it showed. Finally, thanks to Hospice of Spokane who helped ease the immense pain in her final days.

There will be a celebration of life ceremony on April 26th, 2026. This will be a happy event because LeAnn was a happy person. In lieu of flowers please donate to Hospice. To remember LeAnn, hug those close to you and live in kindness.
