LaVon June Baker

October 28, 1928 — June 8, 2018

BAKER, LaVon June (age 89) – Entered into rest on June 8, 2018 in Spokane, where she had lived most of her adult life. Born on October 28, 1928, in Spencer, ID, to Everett and Rose Lemmons, LaVon graduated from Kettle Falls High School (1946) and Kinman Business University (1949). She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland in 1983. She retired from Cowles Publishing Co./Spokesman Review in 1984, where she worked as a composition designer of regional papers and magazines.   LaVon was a devoted member of Hillyard Baptist Church for more than fifty years.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was gifted with a skill making beautiful items with plastic canvas.  LaVon is survived by her daughter, Linda Rose Locker of Spokane; her grandson, Shane Locker, and her granddaughter, Crystal Duran, both also of Spokane; and four great-grandchildren.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Hillyard Baptist Church, 2121 E Wabash, Spokane, WA, with Pastor Ron Ulmer officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
