John Edward Besnson

John Edward Benson was born at Deaconess on November 21, 1943 and passed away at home on May 25, 2025 at the age of 81. He grew up in Hillyard and attended Arlington Grade School, John R Rogers High School and graduated from WSU with a bachelor's degree in mathematics, history and languages. He married his high school sweetheart and they spent 61 years together.

John loved to hunt with his bird dog Heidi along the Palouse, Columbia Basin and Warden. Most of all he loved to play golf with his friends Tim, Fred, Bob and his brother Bill.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; nieces Kim, Kelly and Jody; great niece Ella; and great nephew Max.

A gathering took place on July 10, 2025 at the Ellensburg Golf Course to remember John and his brother Bill (who died on Sept 9, 2024). Also, friends and classmates gathered at Selkirk Pizza on July 23, 2025 to celebrate John's life.
