Jeannette Whittekiend died peacefully on Dec 31, 2022. After living with multiple physical issues for several months she went home to Jesus. Born Jeannette Marie Smith on May 15, 1928 in Gooding, ID to Ernest and Virginia Smith with 8 brothers and sisters: Gerald, Gene, Theresa, Marilyn, Carolyn, Anita, Lawrence, and Kenneth. She is survived by Gene, Carolyn, Anita, Larry, and Ken. Jeannette married Forrest Whittekiend on August 14, 1946, they had five children: Les (Marie), Alvan (Erika), Glenn, Cheryl (Mike), and Virgil (Judy). She is survived by Les, Cheryl, and Virgil, as well as 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Forrest and Jeannette moved from Southern Idaho to Spokane in 1956 where they raised their 5 children. Forrest died in 2005 from cancer, Glenn in 1977 from cancer, and Al in 2013 from cancer. Jeannette surrendered her life to Jesus in the summer of 1956 at Hillyard Baptist Church. Knowing Jesus was the Light of her life with daily Bible reading and sharing her faith. Jeannette always had a listening ear. Forrest and Jeannette loved having fun, camping, fishing, gardening, and visiting family. Her favorite song was “He (Jesus) Made Something Beautiful of My Life”. Jeannette will be profoundly missed by her family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
