Ivan Ellis Utt

Ivan passed away on August 18, 2018 in Spokane, Washington. He was born to Forrest and Nancy Utt in Riverside, Washington on July 23rd 1938.  He attended school in Riverside, Washington and graduated from high school in Twisp Washington.  He attended Multnomah Bible School for a year and served 4 years in the United States Air Force.  On June 25, 1965, he married Myrna Kirkevold in Spokane, Washington, a marriage that spanned 53 years.  He worked for the City of Spokane Water Department for about 30 years retiring in 1997.  Ivan had an inquisitive mind and many interests.  He very much enjoyed growing plants and always maintained a garden.  Among other activities that he enjoyed and took part in were table tennis, horseshoes, and chess.  He also enjoyed going to garage sales and always had a book available to read.  Ivan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Leroy.  He is survived by his wife Myrna, brothers Walt and Art, daughter Ilah (Steve) Barnes of Greenbelt, Maryland, son Alton of Moscow, Idaho, and a grandchild Chris of Baltimore.  The family wishes to express special thanks to the Avalon Care Center at Northpointe for the loving care that Ivan received while he was there. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Riplinger Funeral Home and Crematory, 4305 N. Division, Spokane, WA. A funeral service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane at the Sunset Chapel on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment with military honors.
