George Baxter passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the care facility in Spokane, where he had been residing for the past eight months. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Betty Baxter, his brothers James, John and Kelly. George was born on Nov. 5, 1942 and grew up in the family home on 5 Mile in Spokane. After graduation he worked various jobs. Later he enlisted in the Marines. George's passion was airplanes and flying. He worked in Alaska as a bush pilot, was employed as a co-pilot for a commercial airline on Guam where he flew Star Marianas and also worked in Honolulu flying the outer islands for Hawaiian Air. He lived in Las Vegas and flew tours over the Grand Canyon. His other occupations included driving bus for the City of Spokane and as a school bus driver. George also was a long-haul truck driver. After retiring he lived with and helped care for his mother at the family home on 5 Mile. He took his mother on fishing trips and once they rode the waves down the Snake River. George loved adventure and led a fascinating and eventful life.
George's Inurnment/Memorial Service will be on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 2pm. The location is the Myers Falls Cemetery, West 7th Ave. & Ivy St., Kettle Falls, WA 99141. Following the service, we will meet at TJ's Tavern, 305 E 3rd Ave, Kettle Falls, WA 99141.
Cards of condolence can be mailed to Riplinger Funeral Home to be forwarded to his sister Robin and Teresa Torkelson-Baxter.
