Ethel “Jean” Grout, 88, of Spokane WA, went home to the Lord the morning of Feb 5th 2023 after a lengthy illness.
Jean was born on June 25th 1934 to Alonzo & Fannie Studebaker in Alma, MI. She was surrounded by the love of her parents and 8 brothers and sisters. After graduating from Alma High School, she went on to study business/accounting. Kicking off a long career in the banking industry.
In 1955, she married James Rowland and they had two boys. Doug and Don. In 1985 she married Ray Grout, who had children Rick, Randy and Renee. They built a beautiful home on Waitts Lake, and enjoyed swimming, fishing, bbq’s and Mariners games for many years.
After retiring Ray & Jean spent their winters in Yuma, AZ which they loved for many years, before settling in Spokane permanently for medical access.
Jean was predeceased by her parents and 7 of her 8 brothers & sisters. She is survived by her husband Ray in Spokane, WA, children Doug (Pennie) Rowland Spokane, WA, Don Rowland Waitts Lake, WA, Rick (Angela) Grout Tucson, AZ, Randy Grout Chewelah, WA, Renee (Larry) Widick Nampa, ID, one brother Don Studebaker Midland, MI, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Holy Family Hospital, Franklin Hills Rehab & Riplingers for their care and compassion. A memorial will be held at 1pm on Jun 25, 2023 at Contempo Community Center, 1205 E Lyons Ave, Spokane, WA.
