Ebba Ostrom

March 19, 1931 — October 17, 2023

Ebba Ostrom, March 19, 1931 - October 17, 2023.  Ebba was born in Stavsnäs near Gothenburg, Sweden.  At 25 years of age, Ebba came to America on a six-month Visa to work as a governess for a prominent family in Washington, D.C.  Ebba spoke five languages and was a trained draftsman (structural engineering architect).  She moved to San Francisco, where she worked at an architectural firm and met Vincent deVilliers.  They married and had two daughters, Anne Sperling (Richard) and Jeanne Speckman (Richard).  In 1969, Ebba and Vince moved to Pasco, Washington, where they opened their own custom home-building business.

As a widow and mother of two high school-aged daughters, Ebba met and married her loving husband, Les Ostrom, a widower and father of three adult children. They were happily married for thirty-eight years.  Ebba was a loving Stepmom to Michelle Haslam (Mark), Scott Ostrom, and Craig Ostrom (Debbie).  Together, Ebba and Les danced, and traveled the world.  Ebba was Grandmother (MorMor) to Jason Brown (Alexandra), Renee Esham (Stu), Anthony Badziong, Andrew Badziong, Max Sperling and Brittany Sandlof (John).  She was a Great-grandmother to Maylee Jay Brown, Hank O’Connor Esham, and Gracie, Chase, Sydney and Chance Sandlof.  Ebba lived 92 years with a grand appreciation for life. She passed peacefully with her devoted, loving husband, Les Ostrom, by her side.

Ebba’s priority was her family.  She was a supportive, loving wife, mother and grandmother. For the entirety of her life, she was an active volunteer in her community and church.

Ebba took the ordinary and made it extraordinary with her many talents of sewing, cooking, baking, catering, and entertaining (what fabulous parties!).  Most of all, she will be remembered for the personal way she loved each person in her life. Her loving fun spirit will be missed and her memory will bring us all a blessing.

A memorial service and a Celebration of Ebba’s Life will be held at Suncrest Family Worship Center, 6048 WA-291, Nine Mile Falls, WA 99026 on Saturday, March 23, 2024, 11:30am - 3:00pm.  Donations in Ebba’s memory are suggested to Suncrest Family Worship Center and World Missions.
