Dewey Hanson

Dewey Hanson was born on Oct. 31, 1928 at his parent’s home near Westbury, MN. He attended a one room country school, Dist. 7, and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1946. He was “born again” on June 27th 1947 at First Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes, MN.
As a young man he began construction work with his father and brothers, Ray G. Hanson & Sons, at Detroit Lakes. From 1950-1975 in Fargo, ND he and his brothers, Lyle and Wesley contracted as Hanson Brothers Construction Co. In 1975 he moved with his family to Spokane, WA doing construction as Hanson Const. Co and then as Hanson Carlen Construction Company until his retirement in 1990. Since that time he has assisted his sons on a part time basis.
In 1951 Dewey was married to Marjorie Paulson and they made their homes in Detroit Lakes, MN, Fargo, ND, Moorhead, MN and the Spokane Valley, before moving to the Deer Park area. Dewey and Marge have 5 children, 22 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.
From 1951-1953, during the Korean War, he served in the armed forces. Army Engineers branch. He has served in several churches in varying capacities. Since 2002 Dewey and Marge have been active at Chattaroy Community Church. Besides woodworking, things Dewey had enjoyed were, photography, recording family history, doing Bible study and teaching.
Preceded in death by his parents Ray & Hilda Hanson and brother Lyle Hanson. He is survived by Marge Hanson his wife of 72 yrs, sister Leone Leitheiser, brother Wesley Hanson, sister-in-laws Delores & Evelyn Hanson.
His adult children & spouses: Deb (Rob) Sheild, Laurie (Rick) Jarmer, Jean (Dana) Carlen, Tom (Carrie) Hanson, David (Kim) Hanson.
