David W. "Dave" Lockard of Spokane, Washington, passed away March 7, 2023. He was 81. He was born May 5, 1941, in Canton, Illinois, to H. Wayne and Shirley (Williams) Lockard. He graduated from Canton High School in 1959. He attended Western Illinois University and the University of Idaho, where he earned both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Mining Engineering. He worked as a Mining Engineer for the US Bureau of Mines. He was a member of the Spokane Masonic Lodge #34, Scottish Rite Bodies, El Katif Shrine.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy (Lockard) Browning. He is survived by his 2 nieces, 5 great nieces and nephews, his brother-in-law Jack Browning, and many cousins and friends. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, including fishing and golf, his kinship with his beloved dogs, being an avid Cubs fan, and for his laughter and knack for telling a great story through the pipe he held in his teeth.
Masonic Rites will be accorded with a memorial service to be held at a future date at Riplinger Funeral Home in Spokane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Spokane Unit, or The Scottish Rite Speech and Therapy Center in Spokane, or Guide Dogs for the Blind in Spokane, WA.
