Caryle Day

October 3, 1940 — August 16, 2023

Caryle Yvonne Day went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 16th, 2023, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Caryle was born to Helen and Henry Mellick on October 3rd, 1940, in Madison, Wisconsin. She later moved to Kennewick, WA, where she met and married Boyd Allen Irving. Caryle and Boyd went on to have 4 daughters who would be the passion of her life.
After Boyd and Caryle decided to go their separate ways, Caryle would meet the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) Allen Day. The two would embark on many adventures together, but namely loved bowling, fishing and camping. Around this time, Caryle also began working at the Napa Auto Parts warehouse in Spokane, a job she would proudly hold for 27 years before her retirement.
Caryle had many interests in her life, but none of them were greater than her love for Jesus Christ. Caryle, along with her husband Tom, served faithfully as ushers at their local church for many years, making a huge impact on those fortunate enough to meet them. Caryle also loved her Shih Tzu’s and always made them a part of her family. She also loved spending time with her daughters on an annual trip to the Oregon Coast.
Caryle is survived by her daughters Sandy (Steve) Wages of Lee’s Summit, MO, Deanna (Rod) Freese of Spokane, WA, Shari Ehrmantrout of Spokane WA, and Jana Day of Spokane, WA. She is also survived by her sons John (Johnny) and Allen Day, her 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and her beloved dog Gracie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Mellick and Helen Gossen, her husband, Thomas Day, her daughter Deborah Thomas, and her son-In Law Michael Ehrmantrout.
A celebration of Caryle’s life will be held on August 23rd at 11 AM at Riplinger’s Funeral Home, 4305 N. Division Street in Spokane, WA 99207. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you donate to the American Cancer Society to help us find a cure. Caryle’s journey here is done, but her new one has just begun.
