Listen to Obituary

Carol was born in Spokane, WA on March 8th, 1947 to Tillman and Lydia Kirkevold. She was the last of four children born in her family joining 2 sisters and a brother and became part of a large extended family becoming one of twenty-six cousins.

She attended Spokane schools and graduated from Shadle Park high school in 1965. Her first job was working in the admissions office at Spokane Community College. She then found employment with the Labor & Industry Dept of Washington State which took her to Olympia, WA for a number of years which she considered a memorable time of her life. Feeling a need to be closer to her family, she returned to Spokane to complete her working years in several government jobs.

She was proud of her Norwegian ancestry and was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church where she served in leadership roles over the years. She was always ready for adventure and was able to travel and explore new places, including Seattle, Hawaii, British Columbia, California, Florida, Texas, and Washington DC.

Carol was fond of cats and owned a number of them over the years and was always eager to pet friendly dogs she would encounter. She was very family oriented and was always available and willing to help those who needed help and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sisters Myrna Utt and Evelyn Kirkevold and brothers Orville Kirkevold.
