With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alfred Lopez, who departed this life on March 22, 2026, at the age of 78.
Alfred was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather whose life was firmly rooted in family. He shared 54 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Charlotte Lopez. Their union began in Reno, Nevada, and grew into a lifelong partnership defined by enduring love, resilience, and unwavering support.
Together, they established their home in Loon Lake, Washington, on their cherished property known as “Mt. Lopez.” There, Alfred created a place where family and friends gathered, and where countless memories were made over the years.
Alfred honorably served his country in the United States Army, including during the Vietnam War. His service was marked by courage and dedication, and he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in recognition of his commitment and exemplary conduct.
A true jack of all trades, Alfred built a life characterized by hard work, adaptability, and pride in craftsmanship. Over the years, he found success as a salesman and also worked as a chef and restaurant manager. He was known for his willingness to help others, his ability to fix almost anything, and his deep satisfaction in a job well done.
He had a profound appreciation for working with his hands and for the outdoors. Alfred enjoyed raising bees and chickens, cooking and baking for loved ones, and spending time on his tractor shaping and maintaining his land. He also had a passion for working on cars, always finding fulfillment in repairing and improving anything with an engine.
Alfred and Charlotte raised seven children who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and purpose.
Alfred will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, sense of humor, and his remarkable ability to bring people together. Whether at Mt. Lopez or elsewhere, his presence left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his spouse, Charlotte Lopez; his children—Kevin Shawver, Machelle Mora (Jesse), Frederal Lopez (Trisha), DonDiago Lopez, Rafeal Lopez, Perceleono Lopez, and Trinidy Lopez; his grandchildren—Chad Bergman, Scott Strout, Tina Novotney, Jennifer Shawver, Nick Shawver, Sacha Mora, Nathan Mora, Jasmyne Cheney, Gage Lopez, Kalie Lopez, Aalyah Lopez, Ronin Lopez, Chelsey Monique Jones, Caden RA Lopez, Jada W. Lopez, Sam Cormier, Heaven Lopez, Zineveah Lopez, Aubree Burns, and Everleigh Lopez; his great-grandchildren—Holly Kay, Natalie, Jade, Cameron, Caleb, Cash, Taylor, Payton, Camilia, David, Eliseao, Elijah, Roman, Raiyah, Kalia, James (coming soon), and Novalee; his great-great-grandchildren, Luke and Chase; his brother, Gilbert Lopez; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Lopez; his mother, Linda Walker; his brother, Johnny Lopez; his sister, Angel Decosta; and his daughter-in-law Kathy Shawver.
Military Funeral Honors will be held at Washington State Veterans Cemetery on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 9:00 AM, located at 21702 E Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA 99022.
A Celebration of Life will follow at Mt. Lopez on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM, located at 4359 E Deer Lake Rd, Loon Lake, WA.
Alfred’s love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
