GOWDEY, Eva May (Means), age 91 passed away of complications from dementia on December 2, 2017 in Milton, WA. Eva was born near Winona, WA on Feb 4, 1926 to Vera Maybelle Means (Dane) and William Fridley Means. Her family of 4 girls included Wilda, Eva, Mildred and Dawn. She graduated from high school at St. John then moved to Spokane in 1943 and worked at Galina and Bouton construction. She married John Warren Gowdey on June 29, 1947 in Spokane, WA. They raised 2 children, Craig and Patti on the North Side where they resided until 2016 when she and John moved to Milton, WA. Eva attended Fowler United Methodist Church. She devoted much of her time to the Church working in the office, counting the Sunday collection, and as wedding coordinator. She was active in UMW Circle, Railroad Auxiliary, Garden Club, and competitive pinochle player in several clubs. She passed on her passion and competitiveness for cards and board games to her grandchildren who carry on the tradition. Eva is survived by her husband of 70 years John W Gowdey (Milton, WA); son Craig W Gowdey (Konnie Jo Gowdey)(Peoria, AZ), daughter Patti L Gowdey (Rudy Ploskonka)(Federal Way, WA); grandchildren Logan J Gowdey(Cam Addicott)(New York, NY); Morgan M Gowdey (Peoria, AZ); step grandchildren Shelby Jordan (Sumner, WA) and Mandy Sprague (Auburn, WA); 5 step great grandchildren; Sister Mildred Repp (Colfax, WA), a passel of nephews and nieces, and unofficially adopted kids, Pat & Ed Jensen. She was predeceased by sisters Wilda Morasch (March 2017), Dawn Vanderpool (December 2000). Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at Fowler UMC, 3928 N Howard St., with Pastor Glenn Kennedy officiating. A reception will follow.
