Diane Kay Herman

February 11, 1944 — October 13, 2017

Diane entered into heaven on October 13, 2017 at the age of 73, where she was reunited with her parents, Cordellia Marie (Zeller) Herman and Joe B. Herman, whom she had dedicated her life too. She will also be reunited with her predeceased Brothers and Sisters, Eleanor, Connie, Robert, Beverly and Dennis. Diane is survived by Sister, Joan Ward, and by Brother, Duane Eldon Herman. Diane was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 11, 1944, and at the age of 2 ½ , she relocated with her family to Spokane, WA. Prior to entering school, Diane wanted to take piano lessons. She gave her first solo concert at age 5 1/2. Her education included Hamilton Grade School, John R. Rogers High School (Graduated with the class of 1962), and then to Eastern Washington State College, where she received an Associate Degree in 1964. While in High School, she played for Triple Trio and the Boy quartet, she had become quite an accomplished pianist. In 1965, she went back to Grand Rapids to be with her mother and dad, who went there to take care of her Grandmother, Augusta (Smith) Zeller. Diane worked for Old Kent Bank, while she was in Grand Rapids. In 1968, she moved back with her Mother to Spokane, and subsequently took care of her mother until her death in 2004. After that, she decided to enter the work force and worked for the Spokane Housing Authority until her retirement on December 31, 2016. Diane was awarded the Employee of the Year in 2016, for her excellent contribution to the Housing Authority. “A special thanks to Lori Ward, who moved from West Seattle back to Spokane to help her mother take care of Diane in her final days. Also a special thanks to Taylor Jennings and Julie Hazlett, who also relieved Sister, Joan, in taking care of Diane, so she could have some free time.” A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA 99207. Private interment will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery.
