Nina "Elaine" Smith

SMITH, Nina “Elaine” – Went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2017 at the age of 86. Elaine was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska on November 10, 1930. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Chief Master Sergeant Warren E. Smith of the Washington Air Guard; son, Rex Smith; and parents, Rev. Edward Irving an Naomi Hatch. Elaine was employed by The Crescent, later Fredrick and Nelson in Spokane in the candy department. She was also a homemaker and loved to spend time with her family camping. She was a church organist for many years and enjoyed playing both the piano and organ. She liked working in her flower beds and also researching the family’s genealogy and writing in her journal. Elaine leaves behind her daughter, Renee Smith of Redmond, Oregon; and son, Forrest Smith of Spokane Valley. Elaine is loved and will be missed by many family members including sister, Angela Denny of Minnesota; brother, David I. Hatch of California; daughters-in-law, Sharon Smith (Rex) and Achara Smith (Forrest); four grandsons, Garrett Smith, Grant Smith (Rex/Sharon), Ryan Smith and Dustin Smith (Forrest/Achara); and three great grandkids, Gavin and Grady (Grant/Neshia) and Gracyen (Garrett/Robin); and host of other family members and friends. Elaine was a kind and gentle person who took very good care of her family and loved the Lord with all her heart. A family graveside service was held on March 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.
