Bert Henry Lindgren

LINDGREN, Bert "Bowler Bert" Lindgren STRIKES OUT A lifelong bowler, Bert was born in Seattle on August 7, 1913 to Carl and Elida Eklov Lindgren. He graduated from Franklin High School and attended the University of Washington and the Cornish School of Music and Drama. He spent two years with the Moore Theatre Production Company, and maintained a lifelong interest in the arts. He retired in 1986 after a long career in heavy duty truck and trailer sales. His favorite hobby became a major part of his life as Bert served on the board of the American Bowling Congress (named life member in 1978), and was a Life Member of the Spokane Bowling Association (served as president and named to Hall of Fame). He held many offices in the Northwest International Bowling Congress and received numerous awards and recognition for over 50 years of competition and sportsmanship. Bert joined the Navy in WWII and served as a salvage operator at Dutch Harbor. He was an active member in fraternal organizations, including El Katif Shrine, Masonic Lodges and Elks Clubs in Seattle, Spokane and Sandpoint, ID. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Johnson of Newtown, CT; nieces Louise Lindgren, Index, WA; Candace Cutler, Auburn, WA; Kathie Mackie, Kent, WA; sisters-in-law Betty Lindgren, Kent, WA; Helen Smith, Birch Bay, WA,; Joyce Eisele, Edmonds, WA; and stepniece Barbara Lindgren, Nine Mile Falls, WA. In Bert's own words: "Don't cry for me for I have had a very wonderful life. I had two wonderful wives who precede me and have traveled all 50 states plus many foreign countries." A Memorial Service celebrating Bert Lindgren's life will be held on July 18th, 2009 at 12 Noon at Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N. Division, Spokane, WA.
