REES, Frances Mae (67) August 2, 1948 to December 9, 2015 We lost the most amazing Wife, Mother and Grandmother after an 8 year courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Spokane, Washington to Ben & Verda Elmendorf. She was raised in the Spokane Valley by Verda and step-father, Raymond Coryell, whom she loved and respected very much. Frances graduated in 1967 from West Valley High School. As an infant, she was a patient at Shriners Children’s Hospital for the correction of club feet. She met her future husband at church, dated for 2 years, and then married James Earl Rees on August 10, 1968. Jim and Frances were married 47 years. In 1969, Frances gave birth to a son, Daniel James Rees, whom passed shortly after birth. In 1974, she gave birth to son, J.A., and in 1978, to daughter, Amber. She cared for them and took pride in their raising. She was blessed with four grandsons, whom she loved to spoil. Frances was preceded in death by son, Daniel James Rees; her mother, Verda Coryell, her father, Ben Elmendorf, and by her step-father, Raymond Coryell. She is survived by her husband, Jim Rees; her son and daughter-in-law, and their sons, J.A. and Stephanie Rees, and Sam and Gabe; and by her daughter and son-in-law, and their sons, Amber and Jimmy Renford, and Mickey and Grifn; also by her brothers, Bernie Elmendorf and Jim (Becky) Coryell. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations in her name to the Shriners Hospital for Children – Spokane Unit, POB 2472, Spokane, WA 99210-2472.
