Jeannette M Atteberry

May 27, 1927 — September 17, 2015

• Jeannette “Nettie” Atteberry 88 • Jeannette, passed away peacefully September 17, 2015, with her family and beloved caretakers by her side in Kirkland, Wash. She was a breast cancer survivor, however Alzheimer’s cruelly took her from us. She was preceded in death by her two husbands Hiram Atteberry, and Larry Mears the father of her children, all of her siblings and one of her sons. • Her remains will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens Main, 5909 S Cheney Spokane Rd., Spokane, WA. Please contact Riplinger Funeral Home in Spokane for more information. She graduated from Chico High School, met and married Larry Mears. After their early years spent in California, they relocated to Spokane where she raised four children and proudly was the quintessential housewife of the 50s; evening hostess to her husband’s business guests, Cub Scout den mother, volunteer at Deaconess Hospital Auxiliary, and actively involved in the United Manito Methodist church. Later in life, after honourably raising the last child as a single parent, she married a high school boyfriend, Hiram Atteberry. Sadly she is preceded in death by both men. . She took great pride in having worked at PG&E Pacific Gas and Electric as a clerk. Her earlier interests included reading, sewing, bowling and gardening. Late in life, she was employed as a church secretary. She enjoyed travelling and took memorable trips to Hawaii with her daughter Bonnie, to France with Karen, and several cruises with Hiram. Closer to her last days she spent quiet times reading and completing puzzles. Her delightful sense of humour, gentle nature and sweet smile, even through her illness, will be remembered. The world has now lost a lady with a sense of adventure and twinkle in her eye. • Mrs. Atteberry is survived by her children, Lance Mears, Bonnie Savage and Karen Brown. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 4 great grand children. She will also be loving remembered by extended family members and countless friends. • A special “thank you” to the care she received during her journey: to the nursing staff at Devonshire at the Waterford , the Shumway Adult Family Home, A Caring Choice AFH and Evergreen Hospice. Furthermore, our family is immensely grateful for L. Smith and Moses. The personal touches you all extended to her will not be forgotten. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Bellevue Presbyterian Church 1717, Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue, WA 98004, or Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church, 4102 S Crestline St, Spokane, WA 99203.
