Judy L Tierney

June 21, 1945 — September 19, 2015

Mrs. Judy (Geisbush) Tierney – Born on June 21, 1945 in Spokane, Washington; passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 19. She was married for 52-years to her high school sweetheart, Dan Tierney. Together they built a family and life – filled with laughter and fun. Throughout her entire life, Judy’s focus was on her family and organizations that helped develop others and build community. She served for over 40-years with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, for well over ten years with Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership, as well as many years with Cub Scouts, Camp Fire, and the Spokane Lilac Festival. Among the many distinctions she received, she was most proud of the Golden Acorn Award from the PTA – the organization directly involved in helping develop her children and their schools. One of the great passions in her life was the pursuit of art; her favorite medium was chalk and pencil. She consistently won blue ribbons at any art competition she entered. Judy’s artistic and creative talents also included cake decorating, needlepoint, leather crafting and photography. Through this art, she literally created hundreds of memories, keepsakes and impressions for all who loved her – wonderful gifts to us then, priceless remembrances now. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she loved golf and played up to the day of her illness. Judy will always be remembered for her humor, creativity, and love of family. She is survived by her husband, Dan Tierney, (Spokane); son, Greg Tierney (Spokane), two daughters, Traci Neerhof and her husband Chris (Chesapeake, VA), Karen Jo Tierney (Spokane); grandchildren, Dani, Garrett, Brad and Emma; her twin sister Joanne Poss (Nine Mile Falls, WA), sister Karen Hefner (Yakima, WA) and four brothers Larry Geisbush (Portland, OR), Jon Geisbush (Kingston, WA), David Geisbush (Bulverde, TX) and Ron Geisbush (Spokane Valley); many brother and sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister Sally Jean Geisbush, father Joseph Robert Geisbush and mother Louise Geisbush. Please join the Tierney family in a celebration of our Judy’s wonderful life, this Friday, September 25, 2015 at 1:00 pm at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 4305 N. DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA.
