Harry Leslie Sparks

December 8, 1918 — January 8, 2015

SPARKS, Harry, Jr. was born to Harry Sr. and Jessie Sparks in Spokane, WA on December 8th, 1918. At age 18 he graduated from Rogers HS. He then attended Spokane Jr. College & WSU where he received a degree in forestry in 1941. After college, he joined the Army and served in the military police unit. In WWII, he lost his hearing as a Heavy Machine Gunner and was honorably discharged. In 1954, Harry married Nadine Pelleberg. Following her death, he married Lottie Allspo in 1970. Proud members of Eastern Star, Harry was also a member of Manito Masonic Lodge #246, Scottish Rite Bodies, the Grotto, and El Katif Shriners, where he was member of the Caravaners and the Shrine Bowling League. Harry enjoyed his job as a green’s keeper for Down River Golf Course, which he retired from after 20 years. His passions were bowling, golfing and his home of 62 years, where he was able to live independently until his death on January 8th at the age of 96. Harry survived by his stepdaughter Teddy Pedersen (Jerry), 4 grandchildren ( Len, Kammie, Teddie, Kristie) and 7 great grandchildren (Lindsey, Jeremy, Breanna, Tyler, Sammie, Ashlee, & Casey). The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 12:30 PM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N Division St. Spokane, WA. Interment will be at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
