Joseph Maurice Hormidas Descoteaux

DESCOTEAUX, Joseph ‘Joe’ Maurice Hormidas May 12, 1932 - January 9, 2015 Joe was born in Biddeford, Maine to Wilbrod and Leona Descoteaux. He grew up with four brothers and one sister; Lionel, Norman, Paul, Leo and Beatrice. He enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Fairchild AFB in 1950. Joe met and married his wife, Rosalie, in 1951 and they proceeded to travel all over the US and overseas for the next 20 years. He retired from the Air Force and went to work in the US Post Office for the next 20 years. He built two homes with the help of his wife and three sons; Maurice, Rick and Jerry. Joe loved to bowl and was a member of many leagues. He was also a coach for the youth league at Valley Bowl. He loved to Square Dance and was active on the board for two years. Joe was a member of Moran United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. He was an Eagle member for over 30 years and a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans. Joe and Rosalie frequently went camping and traveled to many places during his retirement. He enjoyed his grandchildren, family, and friends. Joe leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Rosalie; his sons and their wives Maurice and Mellody; Rick and Judy; Jerry and Colleen; his grandchildren Raquel Descoteaux, Amy Goldman, Matt Descoteaux, Jared Descoteaux, Hannah Descoteaux, Joseph Descoteaux; and his great grandchildren Sadie and Jennifer Descoteaux, Ruth and Lilyan Descoteaux, and Mason Goldman. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and two brothers Lionel, Norman. Funeral Services will be at the Sunset Mausoleum Chapel on the grounds of Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday January 16, at 1:30pm. There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, January 18, at 1:00pm at Moran United Methodist Church. Donations may be made in his honor to Hospice of Spokane or to the charity of your choice.
