Shirley Ann Rogers

March 3, 1947 — November 6, 2014

Shirley Ann Rogers (67) Shirley Ann was born to Paul and Mercedes Wittkopf on March 3, 1947. She passed away November 6th, 2014. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, yet good friend and father to her children, Hap Rogers. Shirley was a wonderful, loving mother to her daughters Tonya Tangvald and Brandi Kimpel. She cared deeply for her son in laws Leif Tangvald and Rich Kimpel. Her grandchildren, Rakel and Christian Tangvald and Torsten Kimpel, were the center of her universe. She adored and loved her sons she gained in marriage, Jeff, Gregg and Brett Rogers. She was the oldest of five children. She was loving and motherly to them all – Sharyn (John) Warfield, Carolyn (Larry) Haarstick, Rosalie Grow, Bob (Melodie) Whittkopf. She had lots of nieces, nephews and in-law grandchildren that called her “Grandma Shirley”, and she loved all of them very much. Before she retired, she worked for DSHS. She enjoyed working with people and helping them. Her pride and joy in her life were her children and grandchildren. She and the grandchildren loved sleepovers, walking to the bakery, hearing stories, sewing, coloring and always laughing and playing. She even learned how to text so she could always talk with them. Her daughters will miss the fun, encouragement, unconditional love, her smile, laugh and the best hugs ever. She also loved to visit Uncle Chuck and Aunt Helen Rhine in Montana. She had a good friend in her sister in law, Rose Messick. She loved going everywhere and getting triple iced mochas with her best friend, Christine Tangvald. Shirley was in chronic pain for the last 12 years of her life. She will always be admired for her strength and smiles that showed no pain, as well as the determination to conquer and overcome any situation. There are no words for her strength. She touched many lives and even changed a few with her loving, giving attitude. Shirley’s passing was a painful shock to her family and friends. We will see you again sweet lady. Life won’t be the same without you. You will be missed and always loved. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 14th at 11:00 AM at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, located at 4320 S Conklin. A reception to celebrate her life will be held right after the memorial at the same location.
