BRODEUR, Gerald A. "Jerry" (Age 77) Entered into rest on August 19, 2014, at his Spokane home. Born in Fall River, MA, on July 24, 1937 to Gerard and Dora (Cormier) Brodeur. Jerry joined the United States Air Force in 1954. He married his sweetheart, Clara, in 1958 and they were stationed in England. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1966-67. He spent most of his career as a firefighter in the fire department, and in his last few years he was an aircraft maintenance scheduling technician in Spokane where the family retired in 1974. He worked for many years at the Longhorn Barbeque, as kitchen manager. He volunteered at Union Gospel Mission in the kitchen after the death of his wife, where he was befriended by many, but his best "buddy" there, was Mike Leonard, and they grew to love and respect one another. Mike spent a lot of time with Jerry making sure that he was active and safe, both at work and at home. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded into Heaven by Clara, his wife of 50 years and is survived by his daughters, Belinda Arnold, Brenda Weidman, and his son, Jerry Brodeur, Jr.; his sister, Dolores Pelletier of Fall River, MA; his brother, Ronald Brodeur (Betty) of Chelsea, ME; grandchildren, Skye, Michelle, Lyndsey (Dillon), Jenna, Josh, Julie Weidman, and Jonathan Weidman; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Wyatt, Rylan, Drayson, Skylar, Lucklin and Cheyenne; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23, 2014 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flowers, RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N Division, Spokane, WA, with Pastor, Doug Munday officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Union Gospel Mission, 1224 E Trent Ave., Spokane, WA. The family suggests memorial donations be made to donations be made to Alzheimer's Association - Spokane Chapter or to the Union Gospel Mission's Food Service Division.
