Annie Macy

February 26, 1931 — March 9, 2014

Annie Macy (age 83) affectionately known as “Aunt Annie” to many, went to meet her Savior on March 9, 2014.  Born in Miles City, MT on February 26, 1931, Annie was the 8th child of Jacob and Paulina Haas.  She grew up with her brothers and sisters on the prairies and farms of Eastern Montana and graduated from Custer County High School.  In 1950, Annie moved to Spokane where her sister Evie lived, and started working for S.H. Kress in their toy department.  Over the years she worked as a bookkeeper for several Spokane companies, including True’s Oil Company, Far West Securities, James S. Black, and the Spokane Valley Foundation.  In 1967, she married Bill Macy.  They were married for 16 years.  Annie’s roles were many, including sister, treasured friend, stepmom to Clint and Mary Macy, aunt, and great-aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.  It wasn’t unusual for Annie to be called “Aunt Annie” by friends or cousins of her nieces and nephews.  She had room in her heart for them all and had a way of making each one feel special and loved.  Throughout her life, Annie made a habit of always learning new things.  She had a talent for crafting, crocheting, and stitching, but also enjoyed a little gardening, camping, and traveling along the way.  In later years, Annie became a member of Fowler United Methodist Church and truly enjoyed the friends and Christian fellowship she found here.  Her family wishes to thank the caring staff at St. Andrews Court, Maplewood Gardens, and Avalon Care Center.  Please join family and friends as they gather to celebrate Annie’s life at a memorial service at RIPLINGER FUNERALHOME AND CREMATORY 4305 N DIVISION SPOKANE, WA on Saturday, March 29, 2014 beginning at 11:00AM.
